Hello there sweet readers! I started an online blogging photography course today and they asked us to post a photo of what ‘home’ is to us. Hmm, you could easily guess what part of the house I’ll be focusing on. And what will most certainly feature in the photo? I’m sorry, but the slice of cake just kind of jumped out of the fridge and said ‘take me! take me!’ On top of that, the idea for a cake video playlist suddenly popped up and I thought it could lend a mellow note to the start the week. You might enjoy listening to the unusual macaron song I’ve just discovered or some of the tunes from previous posts.
First for the photo of ‘home’. Yup, it’s the kitchen!
But why is a kitchen so important? Well, I’m rather fond of making cakes, which isn’t always easy to do when you leave your hometown (London) in 1997 and then live in 7 different countries. Finally I arrived in Barcelona. I shared with other people, as you do, then one day a flatmate invented a new rule: I could only use the oven once a week. Obviously I moved out immediately. 🙂 Later I had my own tiny kitchen (2 metres square) which was incredibly fast to clean but not ideal.
So last year when I decided to settle in Barcelona I searched high and low for a nice big kitchen, and the rest of the flat of course. I finally have a real home, and a place that gives me the space and the right to make as many cakes as I like and all the colourful stuff I need to do so!
And I do love Barcelona. When I learn to use my camera hopefully I’ll post photos of the scenery too.
Anyway, while you’re here perhaps you’d like to listen to the cake playlist:
1. From the three All about the cake songs, the winner you voted for 2 weeks ago was the one with … lots of cakes, which makes sense I suppose! You can view the full poll results and hear all the versions here if you like, but if you just want to listen to the winner:
2. And here’s the rather strange macaron song by JubyPhonic, which according to comments might not be about macarons though personally I’m choosing to hear the innocent sweet interpretation!
3. I do like this cake song: She’s my choux, choux by Os Mutantes – yes, of course that’s what they’re singing! 🙂
or finally, if you’re having a lot of trouble making a cake and it’s taking ages and ages:
4. You can get it if you really want, but you must try, try and try… by Jimmy Cliff
Song number 4 will also apply to my struggle learning to use a camera without the automatic function! I will certainly try and try!
So bye for now sweet and possibly photo-taking reader! Till the next post and photo – happy eating, listening, reading, baking or clicking! 🙂
