Week (20) of making cakes! And a Monday cake song! :)

Cake news and fun

It’s been a week of making fast and fairly easy treats!  Baking and eating multiple Basil and nutmeg cheese soufflés was no problem at all.  All in the name of research, also carried out on macaron ice-cream sandwichesSalted caramel ice-cream or Lemon sorbet and ginger, very nice for the summer and brought to you with a little cartoon story!Week 20 of cakes

Being tweaked and tested

Yes it’s been a good light and fluffy week with some ‘hard work’ developping Berry nice lemon, yuzu and ginger macarons, using yuzu for the first time… yum!  And there were gluten-free, sugar-free Lime lamingtons and Chocolate lamingtons.  Tested and approved by climbing friends.  Delicious, healthy and heat-resistant.  The Lamingtons, not the friends.

Monday cake song

This is a slightly rude (sorry, marked explicit) little video by a group of Australian lads called the Janoskians.  A youtube comedy group with a large following, they’re definitely lads.  The song’s called Real girls eat cake.  🙂  There’s a cake fight at the end.  Disgusting or amusing?  What do you think?!

Macarons and Tres leches cakes Pinterest boards

But seriously now.  I was recently invited to contribute to Patisserie’s Makes Perfect‘s MACARONS Pinterest board.  Have a gander (look) as there’s some lovely stuff there alongside her Marmite macarons!  Yes, yummy marmite!  Anyway it inspired me to start a TRES LECHES CAKES Pinterest board, including cakes from the last mini challenge we had here.  If you want your recipe added please let me know…

Soufflé challenge and Pinterest board

Finally, before I go I’ll also leave you the link to the Pinterest SOUFFLÉS board I’ve just constructed with my bare fingertips.  It could provide inspiration for you guys who are interested in making soufflés.  And though there’s just a few of us doing the mini soufflé challenge I’ll set it up for July.  For bloggers and non-bloggers.  If you’re still a bit wary (okay, scared) of soufflés, well so was I and it’s such a relief to find it’s pretty easy!  Um… go for it!  I dare you!  🙂

Basil and nutmeg cheese souffléWell that’s all for this week folks!  Nice to see you again sweet or savoury reader, as always!  Wishing you an inspired, daring week ahead!   Happy baking and eating! 🙂 x

Baking on Sundays with my French mum was a lovely part of my childhood. Later I experimented with baking books or internet recipes and did the pâtisserie course at Le Cordon Bleu Paris. Still trying out new recipes and inventing cakes with influences from all around the world, including some healthier ones. Yes, love cakes!!! Hope you'll love them too and have fun baking. :)

  1. Gorgeous Lili, everyone of those treats you wave at us weekly. I’ve never seen macaroon shells before, gosh I’d love to get my hands on them. Also, even though I did not take part in the Tres Leches challenge, would love for my recipe to appear on your Pinterest page? Thx.

    • Thank you Loretta! Glad you like it all… and .. um you’d need to make the macaron shells – or get someone you know to make them for you! 🙂 Pinned your Tres leches. Great! 🙂
